What we collect, and what we don’t.

Scope

This policy covers Accessible Education, an independent editorial publication about higher education in the United States. It describes what we collect, why, how long we keep it, who can see it, and what you can do about it. If a product on this site behaves in a way that isn’t described here, that’s a bug in our system, not in your expectations.

What we collect

• Newsletter signup. If you subscribe, we store the email address you provide and, optionally, your first name. Subscribing requires an explicit consent checkbox — we don’t sign people up silently.
• Editorial contact. If you write to us about a correction or a story, we store the message and, if you leave one, a return address, so we can answer it and follow up.
• Technical logs. Standard operational logs (request timestamps, IP addresses, referrers) are generated automatically by the hosting infrastructure and retained only as long as needed to keep the site functional and secure. They are not merged with any personal data we hold.

What we do not collect

• We do not use cookies at all.
• We do not run analytics, advertising pixels, or fingerprinting of any kind.
• We do not sell, rent, or share data with third parties for marketing.
• We do not collect or knowingly receive data from anyone under 13.

Sharing and retention

We share editorial-contact data with nobody except the people needed to answer it. Newsletter data, once a provider is integrated, goes to that provider and to nobody else. Retention: editorial inquiries are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted; newsletter addresses are kept only for the life of the subscription, and are removed promptly — within 30 days — on unsubscribe or deletion request.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to ask us to stop processing it. Under California law, including the CPRA, you can exercise those rights without a reason and without a third-party agent; we aim to respond within 45 days. Under the GDPR, for visitors in the UK and EU, the same rights apply, and we aim to respond within 30. Write to the address on the contact page with a subject line that says which one you’re exercising.

Children

This site is intended for audiences 13 and up, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, tell us through the contact form and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the page will carry a new “last updated” date and the change will be noted above. A material change — one that alters what we collect or how — is flagged at the top of the page for the full 30 days after posting.
